Couples psychotherapy is a supportive, structured form of therapy that helps partners work through challenges, improve communication, and strengthen their emotional bond. It focuses on resolving conflict, understanding relational dynamics, and fostering healthier ways of relating to one another. At True Therapy, couples therapy is provided by Sonia Dillon, a Registered Psychotherapist, licensed to practice in Ontario. Sonia primarily draws on Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), developed by Dr. Sue Johnson—a well-researched and evidence-based approach that helps couples rebuild trust, improve intimacy, and create lasting emotional connection. Navigating relationship challenges can feel overwhelming. Coping with anxiety, low mood, or grief can be exhausting and isolating. Stress and trauma often leave us feeling stuck. But you don’t have to face these struggles alone—I’m here to help.

I provide a welcoming and supportive environment where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and experiences without fear of judgment. Through a collaborative approach, we’ll work together to navigate the challenges you’re facing. My intention is to build a trusting partnership where you feel genuinely heard, valued, and understood—and where each session offers insight, growth, or something helpful to take with you.

I adapt my therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual, couple, or family I work with. Drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities—including EMDR, CBT, EFT and IFS—I tailor each session to what will be most effective and supportive. My practice is client-centered, trauma-informed, and inclusive of all individuals and all relationship structures.
